Usapho High Tea Feedback - 13 August 2016

USAPHO Foundation hosted its first High Tea Event in support and celebration of Women’s Month, on the 13th of August 2016. With over 100 women and men in attendance, the aim of the event was to honour and recognise “Women within the Family”, in which ever way this role was fulfilled in any and all families. With hostesses well up to meeting the challenge, tables were lavishly, beautifully and elegantly decorated to themes ranging from nature and tea parties, to families in history and film, such as the Addams Family. Guest speakers shared life experiences and recited poetry, while exhibitors marketed their wares in art, design and beauty / health products. An amazing and rewarding day was enjoyed by all, and much needed funds were raised for the continuing growth and to further the ability of the organisation to provide and render services within the community of Kraaifontein.

Usapho High Tea - 13 August 2016

With Women’s month being in August, USAPHO has taken the initiative to host a Women’s event in the form of a High Tea. To promote ‘women in the family’, the focus will be on all roles that not only a women play in the family, which help to form, build and strengthen the family. At the cost of R50.00 per person, this is an affordable cause and wonderful opportunity for women and families to network, learn and share in some quality time. Hostesses will have a table of 10 and tea and treats will be provided at each table. Guest speakers will be present, as well as items for sale and we are sure that it will prove to be a successful and enjoyable endeavour.

This event will take place at the Kraaifontein Civic Centre, in Brighton Road, Kraaifontein on Saturday the 13th of August from 14:00pm till 17:00pm.

USAPHO Foundation was invited by Bush Radio to partake in an interview at the station, to be broadcasted live on air on the 7th of July 2016. This was in order to further raise awareness with regards to not only the existence of the organisation, but also the much needed services which USAPHO provides, and where and how to access it. With persuasion and reluctance, Pastor, councillor and Facilitator Shaville Fledermaus was nominated as the lucky winner and barring immense nerves, gave a stellar interview!! Programs and services rendered, the vision; mission and outcomes desired were discussed, as well as the needs of the organisation and how listeners can assist. This was an incredible opportunity for USAPHO, and we sincerely appreciate the chance to make our voice heard and also to educate others as to the taboo specifically of teenage pregnancies which has been swept under the carpet, and what USAPHO is doing to hopefully curb these rising numbers as well as prevent the continuation of this vicious cycle.

USAPHO Foundation was extremely honoured and privileged to host 5 Masters Students and their Mentor, from the Henley Business School in the UK. From different backgrounds and expertise, these students dedicated their time and efforts in support of USAPHO Foundation to assist the organisation in further reaching our goals, mission and vision. With a surgeon, finance graduate, and linguistic psychologist amongst them, these students spent three days in the community, and at USAPHO’s office interviewing staff, Board Members, Stakeholders and beneficiaries, in order to determine whether or not USAPHO was indeed upholding the values integral to the heart of the organisation. Through these interviews it was deduced that not only does the organisation meets the expectations of those we work with and for, but that an inherent sense of trust and respect is felt throughout and what USAPHO strives for, it rigorously obtains.

We cannot thank the Henley Business School students enough for the time, effort and dedication put in to assist in raising awareness surrounding the organisation, and also their invaluable advice and recommendations as how to improve out services.

USAPHO Foundation hosted its Annual Golf Day at the prestigious Erinvale Golf Estate in Somerset West on the 27th of May 2016.

After somewhat of a slow response, we were inundated with registrations and interest in both the golf day and the dinner thereafter. Being blessed with a beautiful day on the greens, the shotgun sounded at 12pm and the games began!! After an eventful day of golf, players and guests then enjoyed an exquisite dinner and prize giving in the clubhouse. This included gifts of travel luggage sets, gift cards and wine, and even a very special prize of a dinner gift voucher donated and presented by Mr Ruben Riffel, renowned chef and restaurateur!

Raffles included one of Herbal Hair Care packages, as well as a coveted 5 litre Cabernet Sauvignon Red Wine, to which we express our sincerest thanks and congratulations to Mr Neil Lyners, having won both.

Thank you to all who attended and supported, and made this memorable day a success!!

Elize Interview On Cape Talk Radio - 21 April 2016

On the 21st of April 2016, Managing Director Elize Hendricks was afforded the opportunity to speak on Cape Talk Radio. This was the perfect platform to advertise the upcoming Golf Day, as well as promote the organisation and the services that we provide. This proved a successful interview and allowed for more listeners and the public insight into the problems affecting lower socio-economic areas, specifically in USAPHO’S area of family building and empowerment.
